Action Alert: April 3, 2017

We've been watching the session tick by with no real action on preventing guns from coming onto campuses, hospitals and community mental centers on July 1st. A couple of bills got out of committee that would be considered "germane" - close enough in subject matter to amend to cover the measures we want - but House leadership hasn't allowed them to come to a discussion or vote on the floor.

Today House minority leader Jim Ward introduced a procedural motion to bring one of these bills, HB 2042 "above the line" for a floor discussion and vote. This means that it would be able to be amended. The motion requires 63 votes and would make this bill the first discussed during the session tomorrow.

So today is the day: Call your House member's office today, right now, and ask them to a) vote to bring HB 2042 "above the line," and b) vote for any amendments that are introduced to stop campus carry.
