The shock and horror that the words SANDY HOOK evoke remain overpowering even five years after the senseless gun violence that snuffed out 26 lives, including 20 innocent first-graders. Almost equally shocking is that since Sandy Hook, some 125,000 lives have been lost to gun violence in the U.S. including an average of seven children and teens shot and killed EVERY DAY, according to national statistics.
The numbers stagger the imagination. They also motivate the Heartland Coalition Against Gun Violence to continue presenting community-wide events and programs, bringing together individuals and groups concerned with the spread of gun violence.
This year's annual Forum will be a compelling one.
